Graeser Park features one of the last two beehives in the U.S.
Graeser Park, located on the NW side of Highway 100 between West Broadway Avenue and Highway 81 in Robbinsdale, is a large and mostly intact Lilac Way park. Named for Mn/DOT Chief Engineer Carl Graeser, it is sadly neglected and in need of restoration.
Arthur Nichols designed the roadside parks based on the labor-intensive ‘Rustic’ style of architecture and landscape design of the National Park Service. It had 10 stone picnic tables, a rock garden and one limestone beehive barbecue.
We hope the City of Robbinsdale will be inspired by the City of St. Louis Park’s 1939 Lilac Way park restoration, and do the same. E-Mail Marcia Glick, City of Robbinsdale City Manager to voice your support for this important project.
