A Lilac Way park was beautifully restored for the 70th Anniversary of Lilac Way.
Karen Laukkonen, Campaign Director, designed the graphics for the big system kiosk for Lilac Park. (What a cool project!)
Also designed trail signage for the SW Regional Trail.

SLP’s Lilac Park efforts include:
•Moved beehive fireplace & picnic table from Mtka. Blvd.
•Restored five tables, a beehive and council ring.
•Created patterned cement bases for structures.
•Built three features with block from dismantled park structures.
•Installed SW Regional Trail connection.
•Landscaping based on original plan.
•Resurfaced circular internal biking/walking trail.
•Designed and implemented interpretive park and trail signage.
Mayor Jeff Jacobs spoke at the Grand Opening of the restored Lilac Park.
Carefully renovated by the SLP Historical Wayside Park/Beehive Restoration Project committee, it is again part of history.
SLP used to have three Lilac Way parks - Excelsior, Lilac and Roadside. Excelsior is gone and the beehive and table from the original Lilac Park at Minnetonka Boulevard were moved to Roadside Park, now renovated and renamed Lilac Park.
See photos of the grand opening and the renovation. Pick up your own ‘beehive’ cake pan from Nordic Ware. Watch a 5-minute video about moving the beehive and a short clip from the Lilac Park Grand Opening. See the original TPT & Mn/DOT video here.
